Nestled in the beautiful countryside on the Cheshire and Derbyshire border, with a splendid backdrop of the Derbyshire Hills on one side and the Cheshire Plain on the other, Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club is one of those courses that is simply a pleasure to play.
It is set in a richly agricultural area and offers superb views in all directions, which serve as the backdrop for a course to test the skills of all golfers at all levels.
The 18 hole Par 70 course offers a rich variety of holes and a challenging yet fair test, whatever your handicap. Playing the course demands constant attention as a combination of tree lined fairways and diverse rolling terrain places a greater emphasis on precision golf. The greens have a reputation for their excellent condition, and are acknowledged as the best in the local area.
The opening six holes provide an immediate examination of shotmaking ability and are set amongst mixed woodland including oak and elegant silver birch.
Holes seven to twelve assume the true moorland character and the golfer who plays to his handicap on these challenging holes will be well satisfied.
The closing holes thirteen to eighteen are in a beautiful parkland setting. They include two par fives (both with water to negotiate) and a fine 443 yard par four finish that demands two long accurate shots to find the well guarded home green
