Joe Pownell took over as Head Professional at Mellor Golf Club in November 2025. His passion for golf began at a young age, inspired by his family’s deep love for the game - with his grandad, parents, and several uncles and cousins all avid players.

Joe developed his skills at Fairfield Golf Club, where he played in the junior section alongside his brother. He went on to complete a Diploma in Golf Studies at Myerscough College in 2015, solidifying his commitment to a career in golf.

Following his studies, Joe began his professional journey as an Assistant Professional at Ashton-under-Lyne Golf Club. Over the next four years, he successfully completed his PGA training while gaining valuable experience as a golf coach, club fitter, and retailer.

Dedicated to helping golfers of all ages and abilities, Joe is passionate about player development and takes great pride in introducing juniors to the fantastic game of golf.
