Following the Governments announcement of changes to the COVID19 restrictions , Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Course reopens on Wednesday 13th May, 2020.
We are pleased to confirm that we are opening our course to visitors from sunday 17th May 2020. Visitors will need to comply with similar safety protocols as members – see this link.
For members you will now have received guidance on how we will now proceed and keep people safe. Please see a PDF document at the end of this article laying out the necessary protocols.
This deadly disease is still in our midst and I am mindful that the government are still urging those who are clinically vulnerable, including those aged 70 or over to take particular care.
GOLF We are delighted that the detail of last nights announcement has been absorbed by the Golfing Industry, and they have now confirmed that you can play with 1 other person from outside your household as long as we maintain strict social distancing.
We want to give our members priority access to the course for the first couple of weeks so we will be excluding visitors until the end of the month. The exception to this will be for members who want to play golf with non-members from their own household, who can pay a green fee via Carl.
The BRS time sheet will be re-opened by Carl at 10pm this evening. This will cover the period from 8am Wednesday morning to 7pm daily, up to and including Tuesday 19th for now in two-balls (earlier slots will be available on BRS shortly for early birds).
Do not turn up for golf without having booked a tee time. Tee times for both social and competitive golf must be booked on BRS for this week, whilst we work on a more automated solution via HDID from Weds 20th. In the short term, all competitions will be Singles Stablefords.
There will be no competitive golf for ladies on Wednesday this week or informal groups such as the Seniors or Teachers tee slots maintained. Tee sheets are open on a first come first served basis for now. We can only guess at the level of demand, and two-balls will reduce our normal capacity, so in order to allow room for everyone to compete, our normal weekend competitions will be run over 3 days rather than one; from Friday to Sunday inclusive, both for the gents and ladies. This will enable mixed households or pairings from vulnerable groups to stay together, as preferred.
Please show consideration to working members; if you are furloughed, a student or retired and can play mid-week, please do so and compete on Friday, allowing working members priority for weekend tee times. Likewise, if you want to play with 3 or more in your household, please book the later tee times so you do not hold up a quicker field. Your co-operation is much appreciated.
Finally; competition cards should be dropped into a plastic box as you exit the 18th green to the left (see attached protocols). As the virus can stay on cardboard for many hours, we will retain the cards until a safe period has elapsed before manually entering into the system and announcing the results. We apologise for this delay, which is done to safeguard members, staff and volunteers until such time as we can automate the score entry from your own homes. We anticipate this development will be available in the next few weeks.
CLUBHOUSEPlease do not approach the clubhouse via the cottage/back entrance as we are keen to protect the space for Zoe and the family. The upstairs floors are completely off limits, with limited access to the locker rooms and buggy store for your first time at the club. (See attached protocols).
PRO SHOPCarl will be opening the shop on limited hours during the week and will be available at competition times at the weekend (see attached protocols).
BUGGIESThe buggies will be cleaned and ready to hire, with one being used by our volunteer Marsalls. Buggies can be hired by one individual only, or a pair from the same household. It is suggested that you bring your own sanitiser, should you wish to hire a buggy, although it will be cleaned thoroughly by Carl in between hires. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help us marshall the course; Karen will be sharing the steps we are taking to protect you and the requested approach tomorrow.
